Clackamas Compost Products, LLC is located on the Southwest side of the industrial area in Clackamas on the South end of the Metro area.  Clackamas Compost provides a modest variety of landscape products and specializes in making and blending of Premium Garden Mulch, made out of clean green feedstock's from local homeowners, haulers and landscapers.  Clean wood and rubble are also accepted for recycling.
The compost feedstock's are sorted for woody materials and the succulent green grass and leaves are placed into loose windrows, and turned by excavator over 5 times in 5 months, temperatures soar above 145 degrees Fahrenheit and steam away the whole time.  After this, it is screened through a 1/2 inch screen and cured for a few months longer to make Premium Garden Mulch compost.
You can use Premium Garden Mulch to provide natural slow release nutrients, retain moisture in your soil, increase water infiltration, protect bulbs and roses from freezing, till into an existing soil for seeded or sod lawns, use for air or water biofilters, erosion control and stream protection, and for general garden & landscape mulching.
The compost is tested for quality regularly and meets the US Composting Council Seal of Testing Assurance quality requirements.  The most recent test results are available upon request.

Premium Garden Mulch
Clackamas’s Premium Garden Mulch is made from well-aged and turned (up to 2.5 years) composted green grass, brush, leaves and woody fines to strike the perfect balance of drainage and water retention, nutrients and biological stability, and ease of use. This product is screened through a ˝ inch mesh to create a black, free flowing compost product. We test our products to assure slow release nutrients are available, and to determine land application rates for different crops.

Vegetable Garden Soils and Flower Beds– Garden beds use organic matter quickly because turning, fertilizing and watering increases soil microbe activity and the use of organic matter. Apply 1 inch deep of Premium Garden Mulch per year in the early spring or fall and work into the top six inches of soil. This will provide a natural form of slow release nutrients to support all around healthy growth. Always fertilize according to fertilizer directions, but you can reduce watering and fertilizing by about 1/3 from normal due to the improvement in water-holding capacity and minor levels of nutrients. While Premium Garden Mulch can be used as short-term mulch, it will allow windblown weed seeds to get a easy footing on the soil. Use coarse mulch on top to control weeds. Shrubs and Trees – Once every 3 years, rake back any surface mulch, and place 2 inches deep of compost from the drip line to within 6 inches of the trunk of each shrub and tree, cover with at least 2 inches of a coarse bark or wood chip. This will allow the compost to feed the trees and shrubs the way they prefer, from the top down, while allowing the mulch to reduce windblown weeds and keep soils cool and moist. Lawns – Turf makes much of its own organic matter, however to rejuvenate a tired lawn, plug aerate and rake in a mix of 50% sandy loam and 50% Premium Garden Mulch. Water will percolate deeper, and grasses will grow back in, denser and healthier.
